Installing your deck the right way is absolutely essential. Why? Because cutting corners during installation can lead to serious problems down the track — and by the time those issues show up, it’s often too late for a quick fix. In many cases, the only real solution is to rebuild the deck entirely.
Take this recent project at the front of a home, for example. The original deck had several issues:
- Gaps between the boards were uneven
- The framing wasn’t treated correctly
- Incorrect fixings were used throughout
All of these mistakes could have been avoided with proper installation techniques and quality materials.
Our Repair and Rebuild Process
We removed the old decking and repaired the existing framing to ensure a solid foundation. From there, we installed 140 Ă— 19 mm Merbau decking using stainless steel fixings for long-lasting strength and durability.
Once the new boards were down, we thoroughly washed the surface with Intergrain PowerPrep and Reviva, then finished it off with Intergrain Ultradeck Natural Oil to enhance the timber’s natural beauty and protect it from the elements.
The transformation was night and day — from a worn, uneven surface to a beautifully finished, long-lasting deck that will stand the test of time.
