Decking Maintenance Service

Revitalize your deck with our expert decking maintenance service. The first step in our process is to sand your deck back to its raw state, removing old oil, flakiness, and any surface imperfections. Once the deck is prepped, we use a high-powered pressure cleaner to ensure the surface is spotless and ready for treatment. Finally, we apply two coats of High Performance Decking Oil, restoring your deck’s natural beauty and providing long-lasting protection.

But our service doesn't end there. Every four months, we remind you to check the condition of your deck. If it needs attention, we're just a call away to reapply a protective coat and keep your deck looking its best.

Our Deck Maintenance service is perfect for decks that aren’t in need of a complete replacement but do require sanding and re-oiling to extend their life. Let us help you get more life out of your timber deck—schedule your maintenance today and enjoy a beautifully restored deck for years to come.

The process to maintaining your deck

1. Regular Cleaning

  • Sweep Away Debris: Regularly sweep your deck to remove leaves, dirt, and other debris that can trap moisture and cause decay or staining.

  • Wash the Surface: Clean your deck every few months with a mild detergent and water. Use a soft-bristle brush or a deck cleaner to scrub the surface, removing any dirt, mold, or mildew. Rinse thoroughly with a garden hose to ensure no soap residue is left behind.

2. Inspect and Repair

  • Check for Damage: Periodically inspect your deck for signs of damage, such as cracks, splinters, or loose boards. Address these issues promptly to prevent further deterioration.

  • Nail and Screw Maintenance: Ensure all nails and screws are securely fastened. Replace any that are corroded or have popped up.

3. Stain and Seal

  • Reapply Stain: To maintain the color and protect the wood from UV rays, reapply a quality decking stain every 1-2 years. Choose a stain that offers both UV protection and water resistance.

  • Seal the Deck: After staining, apply a water-repellent sealer to further protect the wood from moisture and prevent warping or cracking.

4. Preventative Measures

  • Furniture and Planters: Use protective pads under furniture legs to prevent scratches, and place saucers under planters to avoid water stains and rot.

  • Shade and Shelter: Consider adding a canopy or awning to provide shade, reducing the deck’s exposure to direct sunlight, which can cause fading and drying.

5. Seasonal Maintenance

  • Spring and Summer: During these seasons, your deck sees the most use, so ensure it’s clean and well-maintained. This is also the best time to reapply stain and sealer.

  • Autumn and Winter: Clear your deck of fallen leaves and debris regularly. In winter, remove snow and ice promptly, using a plastic shovel to avoid damaging the surface.

6. Professional Maintenance

  • Deep Cleaning and Refinishing: For a thorough clean or refinishing, consider hiring a professional deck maintenance service. They can handle tasks like pressure washing, sanding, and applying specialized treatments that enhance the deck's longevity.
